Live A Spirit-Led Life
Daily Truth
Though we make much of so many other sins, pride is the worst of all evils because it exalts itself above the knowledge of God. Picture two scenarios with me: The celebrity pastor, hanging out in the green room with assistants at his beck and call. He has built a ginormous ministry, and many people idolize him. (He loves all of the accommodations that come with his position, and he’d never say it out loud, but he’s pretty sure God is as impressed with him as he is with himself.) Several miles down the road sits the local prison. A convicted felon kneels on the concrete floor. He grabs fistfuls of his bedsheet and puts his forehead on the bed. He cries out for mercy and begs Jesus to forgive him, cleanse him, and come into his life as Savior and Lord. Who do you suppose Jesus moved toward at that moment?
The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.
Isaiah 57:15 NLT
Just because God is with us and for us doesn’t mean we’re always on the Lord’s side. He’s on the side of faith, hope, love. He’s on the side of forgiveness, redemption, and restoration. He’s on the side of humility, brokenness, and compassion. He’s on the side of the moment-by-moment obedience that is the Spirit-led life.
