Live From A Pure Heart

Daily Truth

It’s a sobering thought that just because God uses all kinds of people and situations, it doesn’t mean He endorses their lives. You’ll notice that in the Old Testament He used wicked kings, foreign nations, and even a donkey to accomplish His purposes. If God is going to do what He’s going to do, why does it matter whether or not we’re wholly devoted to Him? Well, for several reasons. For one, He deserves our highest praise and our best offerings. Paul charged us in the book of Romans to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him! (See Romans 12:1.) He further said, “You are not your own; you’ve been bought with a price. So glorify God in your bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20, my paraphrase). Second, our call to consecrate ourselves before God that we might be used by Him on the earth today is actually a mandate, and one that’s so often overlooked by many.

If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
